Our Story: What is Educational Momentum and How Did We Get Here?

We all want to see students thrive—not just academically, but in a way that sparks lifelong curiosity and confidence. That’s where Educational Momentum comes in! We’re on a mission to make learning a rewarding journey, one that’s personal, meaningful, and geared toward real growth.
So, what exactly is Educational Momentum, and why did we feel inspired to create it? Let’s dive into our story, our goals, and how we’re making a difference!
Where the Idea Came From
Educational Momentum was founded with a clear purpose: to be a catalyst for learning and personal growth. We expect children today to just have the executive functioning skills needed to be successful in school and we also, as a society, expect them to learn the way schools teach. That doesn’t work for all kids!!
We believe wholeheartedly that learning should be empowering. We saw a need for something different, something that doesn’t just focus on homework help or tests or follows a set curriculum but actually builds a foundation for each student’s success. We wanted to create a place where every learner is seen and supported as an individual, not just a number or score.
The word “Momentum” really resonates with us because we believe that if you can pull back the slingshot and build momentum, when you launch, you’ll launch farther and faster than you ever would have if you kept plugging along. Equipping kids with the skills they need to be successful learners will allow them to rapidly accelerate and continue to soar.
Why We’re Here
We started Educational Momentum because we knew there was a gap. We heard from you: parents who have kids who are too anxious to go to school, who have to pick your child up because they can’t be present in school or are refusing. Parents who know their child can read but school can’t give her the individual instruction. Parents who get reports home about your child’s behavior: they’re not focused, they’re distracting others, fidgeting, getting frustrated. Too often, traditional education doesn’t leave room for individual pacing, let alone personal interests and unique strengths. So we decided to build an organization that does just that: a place where students, families, and educators can connect, grow, and see progress together.
Our work is rooted in a few core beliefs:
Education Should Be Personal
No two learners are alike. We tailor everything we do to fit each student’s unique path. Whether it’s customized tutoring, skill-building, or enrichment, we want students to feel like their learning is just as unique as they are.
Skills That Last a Lifetime
School can teach us a lot, but true learning goes deeper than tests and assignments. We focus on building essential life skills—like critical thinking, resilience, and self-advocacy—so that our students can succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Building a Supportive Community
Educational Momentum is more than just a place for students to learn; it’s a network of support. We bring together families, educators, and students because we know the best results come from teamwork. When everyone’s on the same page, students feel valued and encouraged to be their best selves.

We’re always looking for ways to grow and adapt to meet the needs of our students. From creating new programs to offering resources for parents and teachers, we’re committed to fostering a community that truly supports its members.
